Christ
Have you used these names as expletives? When? Why? and how do you justify your cursing of Jesus Christ? When I hear someone using Jesus’ name in vain, it is like industrial grade sandpaper applied to my soul. I usually respond with loves you, to soften the harsh echo that reverberates in the air when Gods name is debased. I shake my head now at the thought, of cursing Christ. If you have done this, may I ask, how could you? I have heard people, religious people, people who cross themselves in mass on Sundays or before eating a meal after a rote prayer, swear this way: it dumbfounds me, stopping me dead in my tracks, and wanting to punch the living daylights out of them!
Okay, now I have said it~I just confessed to a violent urge. What can I tell you dear reader, I am loyal, to my God. Now don’t get me wrong, God is big, you know, the God that created the universe, every plant, animal, and human in it, and also conquered death by rising from the grave… yeah yeah, that God! He doesn’t need little old me to raise my fists and bop someone in the snout: he could snuff out that foul-mouthed-pigheaded-prideful-cusser in the snap of two fingers if he felt like it, but alas, he is merciful and long suffering. If he took out each person that cursed him out loud and or silently, there would be a lot fewer of us walking the earth. Our Daddy in heaven doesn’t just drop his dirty mouthed kids, he gives us all time to wash our own mouths out, with proverbial soap, otherwise known as a convicted conscience.
It should pain us to curse the one that took our cross upon his back…
I am considering thanklessness as the real curse. When people are embittered, believing they have been done wrong, that they have not been given their due: they curse the one that made them in an ultimate act of rebellion, giving God the message that he hasn’t done enough for them, that somehow, he owes them more than what they have received thus far. They are right, they haven’t received what they deserve thus far, none of us has: the cross was the greatest gift of all to all, and to curse Christ is to add further damnation to the unconfessed sins of the one using his name in a vile manner, unbecoming of an image bearer.
A shocking fact for you
Do you cling to the cross of Christ, or curse it? |
Hey dear reader, here is a shocking fact for you, one I have shared many a time! You… are… going… to… die… I don’t have to bop you in the nose for using Jesus’ name in vain, he can do this to you when you meet your maker. Consider this: Crossing Christ is not ok today, tomorrow, or ever: just because you haven’t paid for your transgressions yet, doesn’t mean you won’t someday.
Gods will for mankind:
“For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved” (John 3:17).
God will not be mocked
Cursing Christ, is cursing the cross he gave his life on, for you, and for me. His name, it is precious, and must be spoken only, in reverence, dear one. God will not be mocked:
“Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain” (Exodus 20:7).
As a Christian, who is called to peace, I just spoke mine. Thanks for reading.
Note: No where in The Bible does it say Jesus bops people in the nose when they meet him… that would really hurt; and cause one to see many stars.
