Enticement
There was a garden, a snake, a naked woman, and an apple tree. I may be in err, but I imagine the apple tree grew Pink Ladies, and maybe this is why women love the colour pink? The apples represented forbidden fruit a very long long time ago but when presented with this temptation, the naked woman found very little resistance in her heart: she wanted a bite and when the snake made a suggestion, she truly became undressed, with no redress, so to speak. Clothed in rebellion after that first bite, the woman could not go back to not knowing what she knew. Not wanting to be alone in her new awareness, she enticed her naked husband, to engage in Pink Lady forbidden apple eating indulgence, and he too, after taking his first bite, knew the starkness of his vulnerability. Something had shifted and changed in each of them and as a result, in their relationship. Trust was broken between the two, and unity was harder to accomplish and happily enjoy. The blame game had begun and it goes something like this:
The man: The woman made me do it
The woman: The snake made me do it
Fallout: “… Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you” (Genesis 3:16).
Salaciously insidious
Do you suppose that distrust between men and women is rooted herein, dear reader? Would it, could it, be possible, that with fingers pointed, with accountability lost, with personal responsibility withheld, that the blame game continues to this day amongst the emotionally immature and spiritually naked ones that roam the earth? Without clothing, we are vulnerable, susceptible and subject to the elements. Without protection from the elements, we can fall prey to predators… slithery snakes with salaciously insidious suggestions.
Ending the blame game
I have a yet to be fulfilled desire of unity, amongst men and women. Not equality, more like the purity of blamelessness and innocent playful trust. A return to the before the knowing state that existed with one naked man, one naked woman, ending the blame game entirely.
“I will rejoice greatly in the Lord. My soul will exult in my God; For he has clothed me with garments of salvation. He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness. As a bridegroom decks himself with a garland. And as a bride adorns herself with jewels” (Isaiah 61:10).
Dressed and ready, I await the fulfillment of my hearts desire. I will not search and find; this fulfillment will be provided for me, all in due time.
Post Script: I have no idea what kind of fruit was on that tree dear reader… I clearly, was not there and The Bible does not specify.
